THE SPACE BETWEEN #001

from Hope & Sammy

Welcome to THE SPACE BETWEEN,

your SHARED space newsletter

"Then I am arriving at that circle where one works on oneself as a gift to other people so that one doesn’t create more suffering. I help people as I work on myself and I work on myself to help people.”

Ram Dass

Hey friends!

Woweeee. What a special time last week was. Firstly, thank you so much to everyone that came to practice in our opening week. We shared space with 60 of you across our first 3 classes last week, and 30 of you came together for our very first 90-minute vinyasa!

To say we are overwhelmed by the response to this new project is an understatement. We really couldn’t believe it every time one of you booked in for a class, and all your words of encouragement have meant the world to us.

What is SHARED space ?

If you’ve missed the memo; SHARED space is a new yoga school and community founded by us (Hope & Sammy) on the principles of accessibility, sincerity, and intentional community. That’s why;

  • We’re using a sliding scale pricing system

  • We’re hosting longer classes; 75 & 90 mins - (to include more meditation + pranayama)

  • and we want to be intentional in how we forge community, which means community SATSANG’s (think yoga bible study) and time for chai and chats after class

Currently our offerings are housed @ Melbourne Salsa in Collingwood (enter via the alley behind terror twilight). We’ve got morning classes for the moment, but with all the requests for evening classes we’re currently hunting down an appropriate space to host classes in the PM. We’ve also secured an amazing space for our very first event (more on that below).

COCOON001 (our first event)

Lots of people have been asking for YIN & slower classes, and we hear you - especially as we move into the more restful seasons, getting slower and more restorative classes into our schedule is a priority. However, until we find the perfect space to host those, we’re really really excited to announce this special event we’ve been cooking up…

the cycles of nature; the great slowing. the change of seasons mirrored within. as the leaves turn, we propose a coming together. a communal ritual of rest. housed within this sacred space, the prayers within the mortar. held by the spiritual hum, together we shed our own leaves and each tend to the weaving of our cocoon.

A 90-MINUTE SLOW FLOW —> YIN HOUSED WITHIN A CHAPEL & ACCOMPANIED BY THE SOOTHING SONICS OF B.C SLUMBER

FROM $38 (sliding scale) April 21st 6PM @ St Peters Eastern Hill

WEEKLY SATSANG

For our first community SATSANG (shoutout those who came) we thought it was important to start at the start. And so where else to begin then by discussing ‘what is yoga?’ and considering this question from a range of perspectives across yogas rich history…

…next week we will be considering Patanjali’s 8-fold path of yoga and how can implement this system into our lives

It will be Easter Sunday, so we’ll bring along some hot cross buns to enjoy with our chai!

Thats all from us for now. Thank you for reading, and for all your support. We’re looking forward to sharing space with you soon.00
